Finding and connecting with the strength and wisdom inside of you

Somewhere along the way, things got off track.

Maybe you moved, or started a new endeavor, or completed one you’d been working on for a long time. Maybe you lost someone or something dear to you. Maybe an important relationship ended, or a challenging one began. Or maybe you’re not exactly sure what happened, but something in your life shifted, and something inside of you shifted. Life feels big and fast, and sometimes painful.

You’re left with the feeling that something’s wrong, and part of you fears that what’s wrong is you, that you’re not good enough, not able to heal, not worthy of better than the suffering you’re enduring now. We all have these parts, parts that tell us that we’re not up to the task, that we can’t do it, that we’re unloved and unlovable. When they take center stage, these parts of you are commanding and imposing: they feel like everything, like they are you.

But these parts aren’t alone in there.

All across your inner stage, throughout the vast theater inside of you, in the walls and in the rafters, are other parts of you: curious ones and playful ones, kind and gentle ones, passionate and creative ones. And in there, too, is a wisdom, a knowing about how to heal what’s hurt, how to help all these parts of you to work together, to support you and to bring greater harmony to your internal world and to the life all around you.

I believe in you, and I believe in your capacity to heal.

Geoffrey Lee, psychotherapist, Wilmington, DE

In therapy, I meet you with this belief.

I meet you with openness to your experience, to your pain, and to all the parts of you, whether they’re struggling or thriving, ashamed or proud, hiding quietly or shining bright and bold. At your core, there is strength, and our work in therapy is to help you access and cultivate it. Together, we tend to the internal rush and press of stress, feelings, and memories that knot you up sometimes. We help all the moving pieces slow down, and we invite them to spread out. Then we listen with warmth and compassion.

And from that emerges something special: understanding and connection first, and ultimately, healing. The calm wisdom that was always inside of you is no longer locked away. It’s close by, available to you, sustaining you as you journey through familiar terrain and into new lands in your relationships, commitments, pursuits, and passions.
